Introduce
Since its inception in 2020, Upcycle Music has focused on the fusion of climate awareness with music by creating upcycled musical instruments and curated content that highlight the connection between music and the climate crisis.
Their performance will showcase the Unique Cello Quartet, featuring cellos made from discarded pesticide sprayers; the Plastic Quartet, performing on string instruments made from recycled plastic toys; and the Garbage Piano, playing the piano with waste directly placed inside it. -
Information
(1) Plastic Quartet
Through the unique medium of upcycled string instruments crafted from discarded plastic toys, the Plastic Quartet delivers a compelling message about the climate crisis. Their transformative artistry breathes new life into discarded objects, turning the useless into the useful, and thus delivering a powerful message about the climate crisis through their music.
(2) Unique Cello Quartet
Playing instruments that blend discarded stainless steel pesticide sprayers with unserviceable wooden cellos, the Unique Cello Quartet creates new sounds by merging two seemingly unrelated materials. This ingenious combination invites listeners to embark on a journey of contemplation, igniting fresh inspiration and prompting profound questions about the climate crisis and the true value of art.
(3) Garbage Piano
This performance features a piano that is transformed through the addition of everyday discarded items such as plastics, plastic bags, bottles, and cans. The sounds created by the garbage striking the piano strings symbolize the suffering of the Earth caused by waste. -
