Information
In the first part of the concert, pianist Park Jaehong takes the stage, presenting Rachmaninoff’s technically demanding and dazzling Piano Concerto No. 3. This captivating piece embodies Russia’s uniquely passionate yet melancholic spirit. Park, the first Korean to win the Busoni Competition, achieved this feat with his rendition of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth, Park recorded an album dedicated solely to Rachmaninoff’s music. This concert promises to be a remarkable performance as Rachmaninoff’s music seems ingrained in Park’s artistic DNA.
The second part of the concert features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, the Pastoral Symphony. This masterpiece showcases Beethoven’s interpretation of the simple pleasure of immersing oneself in nature’s beauty. Through captivating melodies and rhythms, the composer conveys a sense of gratitude that follows a storm and invites listeners to take a spiritual journey through nature.
This performance by the Korean National Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by David Reiland, the orchestra’s artistic director. -
