“Drama within Us, Dreamers on Stage”
Theatre Troupe Ddungddanji and 20 child actors from Theater of Dream present a reimagined version of The Wizard of Oz.
Set in the front courtyard of the National Theater Company of Korea in Seogye-dong, this performance offers a captivating visual spectacle, seamlessly incorporating various objects, singing, dancing, and engaging interactive moments with the audience. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery to find themselves through an audience participatory game and play.
* Theater of Dream is a culture and arts education support program organized by the Arts Council Korea. It aims to provide children and youth from diverse social and cultural backgrounds across the country with the opportunity to experience a wide range of theater genres. In 2024, the program will pilot theater education in collaboration with professional art institutions and artists. As part of this initiative, nine ambassador teams from various fields will be selected to deliver engaging theater programs to children and youth nationwide. This performance is an integral part of the creative education project undertaken in collaboration with one of these ambassador teams, Theatre Troupe Ddungddanji. -
Information
Dorothy lives in a remote house in Kansas. One day she is suddenly swept away by a whirlwind and finds herself in the Land of Oz. In her quest to return home, she meets a number of companions along the way, including the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, and together they embark on an adventure. Understanding that she must defeat the Wicked Witch of the West to make her way back home, Dorothy and her friends set out to confront this formidable adversary. After defeating the witch, they finally meet the great Wizard of Oz. Will Dorothy make it home safely?
