  • Introduce

    < Their Argument >
This work explores the intricacies of communication, the absence of communication, and the resulting misunderstandings and misinterpretations that arise. It takes a new approach to the reality of persistent conflicts rooted in societal disparities and religious, political, and cultural differences.

    < The Birth of a Story >
“Everyone holds their breath as they watch the birth of a story.”
Caught in an endless continuum of change, we yearn for peace of mind. Like travelers who have forgotten how to rest, we seek a story that provides solace. The Birth of a Story is a search for forgotten promises and serenity. Through dance and music, we confront the silence buried deep within us, witnessing on stage the primordial era when we could commune with Earth’s creatures—the time when stories were born. Everyone holds their breath as they observe the genesis of a story.

  • Information

    < Their Argument >
An argument signifies one’s desire to reject differences and the desire to mold the world to one’s own preferences. It is war! Since the inception of war, humanity has engaged in conflicts of conquest and annihilation. The emergence of argument served as a tool to fuel disagreements. Unable to bridge the gap created by disagreement, humanity resorts to war once again. Argument can be seen as a battle fought with a pen instead of a sword, spilling souls rather than blood. It is a war between me, the order of the universe, and you, the universe’s possession. Argument embodies conflict, division, and destruction, yet paradoxically, it also facilitates creation. This work initiates an argument about the stereotypes associated with dance. It is an argument about comparison and symbolism, expression and existence, immersion and meaning, and time and movement. It is an argument that unfolds between dancers themselves, as well as between the audience and the stage. But what if there is no love at the end of the argument? Then an argument is nothing more than fierce nonsense. . . .

    < The Birth of a Story >
From the moment I fully understood the significance of my name, I have loved the land.
    “Hye-rim” means a blessed forest.
A forest cannot be sustained without land.
As a young child, I imagined a vast forest when I wrote the character “tree” (木) with my small hand.

    Amid fruit-laden trees,
    birds soar high
    while animals below rest
    in the living forest.

As I dance, I imagine a very profound land.
I allow the energy of the land, drawn up through my root-like soles, to create pathways throughout my body.
Every movement expressed by my body is linked to the land.

Thus, at every moment, I cannot help but recall the land.
Remembering the gift of land bestowed upon us, I present The Birth of a Story.
