  • Introduce

Immerse yourself in the legends of Blue Dragon and Yellow Dragon, mythical figures associated with Cheongchoho and Yeongrangho Lakes in Sokcho, through original gugak and dance performances.

  • Information

The Blue Dragon and Yellow Dragon each guarded their respective lakes to ensure the peace and well-being of the village.
Moved by the prosperity of the village thanks to the devotion of the two dragons, the Great Jade Emperor opened a path in the night sky during the full moon. This offered the dragons a chance to ascend to the heavens.
Though the Blue Dragon gracefully ascended, the Yellow Dragon was unable to follow. A massive serpent stole the Yellow Dragon’s Cintamani stone, preventing it from following its companion.
As the two dragons’ tears fell like rain, the villagers, hoping for the Blue Dragon to return and reunite with the Yellow Dragon, lit torches and performed an ancestral memorial rite honoring the divine dragons.
Their prayers ascended to the heavens, and the celestial path reopened, allowing the Blue Dragon to descend. Reunited, the tears of joy shed by the Blue Dragon and the Yellow Dragon purified the lakes, and the two lived happily together for many years.
