Introduction
Dance Dedicated to the Ancestors by Ahn Eun-Me Company draws from the humble movements of grandmothers the choreographer encountered while traveling across Korea, embodying the joys and sorrows of Korean history on stage. Beginning with Ahn’s solo, the piece flows into dancers’ portrayals of the grandmothers, and concludes with documentary footage of the elders themselves. Accompanied by the music of director Young-gyu Jang, the performance conveys the raw vitality and life force of generations who lived through turbulent times.
